Uji has long been known as a tea producing region, with a history of tea production dating back as far as the Kamakura Period (1185–1333). During the following Muromachi Period (1333–1573),
it became the top brand for emperors and shoguns and, during the Edo Period (1603–1868) Gyokuro,
Uji’s top tea variety and known by some as the Dew of Jewels, was developed. With its unique flavor and aroma, this tea is admired by many Japanese people.
To be able to allow many people to easily enjoy the deliciousness of Gyokuro, we developed Tamausagi, a new bottled drink that takes into account the eight centuries of tea production in Uji.

Tamausagi uses Uji gyokuro tea, a variety of tea handed down over through the long history of Kyoto, and pairs it with the latest manufacturing technology to ensure that everyone can enjoy the delicious aroma and rich flavor of the tea.
In particular, gyokuro is high in theanine, a relaxing ingredient that contributes to its sweetness and umami characteristics, a flavor and relaxation component heightened with low temperatures.

Whether you’d like to enjoy a non-alcoholic toast before meals, something to enhance the flavor of delicate dishes, or a relaxing after-dinner drink, Tamausagi can be the perfect fit.
